Compete with Private Channels: Venkaiah to DD

VIJAYAWADA: Union minister for urban development M Venkaiah Naidu has asked the Doordarshan to improve its quality to compete with private channels especially in providing news at the earliest without making any compromise on credibility.

Speaking at the DD Saptagiri channel rededication programme here Saturday, he said that DD was protecting its credibility in presenting news with accuracy. On the other hand, he appealed to the private news channels not to sensationalise news.
Venkaiah Naidu pointed out that within three months of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the truncated AP state had got its separate DD channel Saptagiri and an upgraded DD TV studio.
