MUMBAI: In what may be termed as a landmark achievement, All India Radio News Facebook page has crossed one million followers.

The Facebook page of AIR's News Service Division (NSD) is reaching almost 25 million people per month across the length and breadth of the country including the overseas diaspora.

The likes are not only from India, but a huge chunk of followers are from countries like Nepal, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, USA, UK and Singapore.

Among the Indian cities, not only the urban metro users, but people from Srinagar, Bhopal, Jaipur, Patna, Allahabad, Indore, Kanpur, Surat, Coimbatore, Rajkot, Dehradun, etc, are also following AIR News. The insight also shows that majority of followers like to read news in Hindi.

Meanwhile, on Twitter, 212k+ people follow AIR News handle (@airnewsalerts), including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other major leaders.

NSD recently opened its Sound Cloud account. This platform is especially meant for audio publishing and allows users to share clips on different networks with its 300 million plus users and listeners. NSD uploads major stories of the day on this platform along with popular talk shows like 'Spotlight', 'Public Speak', etc. In just three weeks, it has managed 46k+ plays. This project aims to digitise AIR archives too.
