Get board nod for probe, govt tells Prasar Bharati

NEW DELHI: The information and broadcasting ministry lobbed the ball back in Prasar Bharati's court by asking it to get clearance of its board on whether a probe is needed into the controversial editing of Narendra Modi's interview by Doordarshan.

Prasar Bharati CEO Jawhar Sircar had sent a communication to the ministry saying it was ready to probe the incident but would do so only if the ministry assured that it would abide by the findings.

Sircar had argued that in the past, the ministry had not taken any action on its recommendations against officials and that the probe should be done by external agency rather than officials.
