Prasar Bharti mulling putting famous speeches online

History buffs may be in for a treat as public broadcaster Prasar Bharati is considering putting up famous speeches by Indian leaders, like Jawaharlal Nehru's iconic freedom at midnight speech, present in its archives, online so that people can access and hear them.

"We have a lot of digitised material on the speeches of our national leaders. These are not saleable commodities, you don't sell the family's heritage. We can put them up on the net so that anyone who wants to hear the freedom at midnight speech or others is in a position to download them," Prasar Bharati CEO Jawhar Sircar said today.

He said the matter could be discussed in the Prasar Bharati board meeting tomorrow.
