Doordarshan urged to scrap analogue terrestrial TV service

Direct-to-home (DTH) satellite television transmission should entirely replace the terrestrial analogue TV service of India's public television provider Doordarshan, an expert panel has told the government.

In its report, submitted to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on 24 January 2104, the Prasar Bharati Expert Committee, chaired by Sam Pitroda, says that 92% of Indian households currently access TV through cable and satellite platforms.
