Bringing books and literature to national television

Literature festivals in India have grown prolifically over the last few years. It all started with the Jaipur Literature Festival in 2006 and since then, the quest to explore literature and its various forms has only ascended.

But the reach of literature festivals, or for that matter any other book related event, cannot be compared with the expansive television viewership, which is presumably the largest in India. So it is only natural to be thrilled when the country's very own national broadcaster, Doordarshan, decides to launch a full-fledged program dedicated to books.

'Kitaabnama: Books and Beyond' is Doordarshan's latest attempt in advocating literature and literary issues through dialogue and conversation. The credit of..............................................
