Digital Radio Mondiale Consortium holds workshops AIR in Delhi and Chennai

NEW DELHI: Even as debate continues on whether it is a workable technology in India as receivers are still very expensive, the DRM Consortium in collaboration with All India Radio held two workshops in India this month.

The first workshop was held for the technical staff at AIR's New Delhi transmission site. The theme of the 'hands-on' workshop was the configuration and implementation of the DRM Emergency Warning and Alerts features.

Around 40 members of staff and AIR's management including the AIR engineer-in-chief Yuvraj Bajaj, as well as manufacturers, were present. The audience had the opportunity to take part in a practical demonstration of this inherent and valuable feature as there is increased interest in India to use DRM's capability for disaster warnings and alerts.
