Doordarshan has strengthened its hold in the 24-hour regional language channels by adding four more channels. DD launched regional language channels inPatna, Bhopal, Jaipur and Lucknow and with this its total regional language channels have reached 15.
The public broadcaster already has 11 regional language channels and the programmes to these centres are telecasted fro around four hours each evening from 5 pm.
Doordarshan Director General Tripurari Sharan confirmed the launch of four channels and also said that these channels will be launched formally after trials.
The channels will follow DD national, i.e., it will be mixture of news and general entertainment.
